{"id":2558,"date":"2025-02-21T00:04:52","date_gmt":"2025-02-21T00:04:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.brickschools.org\/bmhs\/?p=2558"},"modified":"2025-02-21T00:04:52","modified_gmt":"2025-02-21T00:04:52","slug":"ashley-lauren-foundation-brings-hope-and-inspiration-to-bmhs-pre-med-club","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.brickschools.org\/bmhs\/ashley-lauren-foundation-brings-hope-and-inspiration-to-bmhs-pre-med-club\/","title":{"rendered":"Ashley Lauren Foundation Brings Hope and Inspiration to BMHS Pre-Med Club"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"79\"><strong data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"77\">Ashley Lauren Foundation Brings Hope and Inspiration to BMHS Pre-Med Club<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"81\" data-end=\"365\">Brick Memorial High School was honored to welcome Maria Demato and Monica Vermeulen from the Ashley Lauren Foundation (ALF) on February 20, 2025, as guest speakers for our Pre-Med Club, advised by Mrs. Jacqueline Castellano, our 2025 Teacher of the Year.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"367\" data-end=\"746\">Maria, ALF\u2019s Development and Special Events Director, and Monica, Founder and CEO, shared the foundation\u2019s inspiring mission: &#8220;Hope &amp; Help for Children with Cancer.&#8221; Named after Monica\u2019s daughter, Ashley, who is a pediatric kidney cancer survivor and proud BMHS graduate, ALF provides financial and emotional support to families facing childhood cancer across New Jersey.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"748\" data-end=\"1204\">Our students were captivated as Maria and Monica detailed ALF\u2019s impact, from covering mortgages, rent, and groceries for families in need to granting once-in-a-lifetime experiences such as Disney trips, VIP NY Giants meet-and-greets, and home swing set installations for immunocompromised children. ALF also organizes special celebrations like an elaborate holiday party, private Jenkinson\u2019s Boardwalk events, and personalized birthday gifts.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1206\" data-end=\"1485\">Functioning solely on donations and fundraising, ALF depends on community awareness and support to continue their life-changing work.
