In front of students, families, alumni, and fans, the Mustangs honored the 20th anniversary of the legendary 2005\u20132006 championship team during a memorable on-court ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>The 2005\u20132006 Mustangs remain one of the most accomplished teams in school history, defined by determination, discipline, and dominance. After opening the season 1\u20133, the team surged to a school record 18 game winning streak and finished with an outstanding 22\u20135 record. That remarkable run featured milestone moments, championship confidence, and program-defining performances, including the first WOBM Christmas Tournament title and the first Shore Conference A South championship in Brick Memorial history. The Mustangs posted a commanding 15\u20131 conference record, earned home games in both the Shore Conference and state tournaments, and advanced to the program\u2019s first Central Jersey Group 4 State Championship appearance.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3024 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.brickschools.org\/bmhs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2026\/01\/IMG_4117-scaled-300x225.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.brickschools.org\/bmhs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2026\/01\/IMG_4117-scaled-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.brickschools.org\/bmhs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2026\/01\/IMG_4117-scaled-1024x768.jpeg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Members of the championship team were welcomed back to halfcourt, including Anthony Isidro, Andrew Picataggi, Mike McGowan, Mike Lepore, all-time leading scorer James Cherrick, and current head coach Keith Farr. Joining them was the entire coaching staff from that historic season, including Head Coach and former Assistant Principal Ron Gerlufsen, Assistant Coach and current social studies teacher Jason Bloom, Junior Varsity Coach and current principal Ed Sarluca, and Freshman Coach Evan Rizzitello, now the Head Coach of the 2025 Shore Conference Championship-winning baseball team.<\/p>\n<p>Brick Memorial High School thanks the 2005\u20132006 Mustangs for representing the school and community with pride, passion, and purpose.
