The Week of the Young Child<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The purpose of the Week of the Young Child<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>\u00a0is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs.<\/p>\n<p>NAEYC first established the Week of the Young Child<sup>\u00ae\u00a0<\/sup>in 1971, recognizing that the early childhood years (birth through age 8) lay the foundation for children&#8217;s success in school and later life. The Week of the Young Child<sup>\u00ae\u00a0<\/sup>is a time to plan how we\u2014as citizens of a community, of a state, and of a nation\u2014will better meet the needs of all young children and their families.<\/p>\n<p>Daily Themes for the week included:<\/p>\n<p><b>Music Monday, April 4th <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; We highlighted movement in our school day with a parade!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Tasty Tuesday, April 5th <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; We are asked students to bring in their favorite healthy snacks and teachers did some Science Eyes with different senses and foods.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Work Together Wednesday, April 6th <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; The students participated in group activities to foster the idea of working together.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Artsy Thursday, April\u00a0 7th &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students created kindness rocks that will be placed in our garden.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Family Friday, April 8th &#8211;<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> We released our \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/JUszwdeXKm0\">Family Video<\/a>\u201d and are starting our family picnics that will be happening through May.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_gallery interval=&#8221;3&#8243; images=&#8221;848,849,850,851,852,853,854,855,856,857,858,859,860,861,862,863,864,865,866,867,868,869,870,871,872,873,874,875,876,877,878,879,880,881,882,883,884,885,886,887,888,889,891,892,893,895,896,897,898&#8243;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Mayor Ducey helped kick off The Week of the Young Child\u00ae \u00a0at WHW.
