Brick Memorial High School’s Class of 2025 hosted a Silent Auction of Dresses, with an overwhelming turnout and success. The event, organized by the class and advised by Mrs. Rebecca Decker and Mrs. Bridget Petrulla, was held on Thursday, February 8, 2024, in the school library.

The idea for the Silent Auction was conceived by junior Keira Miley, showcasing the creativity and initiative of the students. The auction featured a collection of over 200 dresses, mostly prom dresses, generously donated by the staff and Brick community. The event raised over $600, with between 50-75 dresses sold to eager attendees.

The success of the event was further highlighted by the presence and support of Principal Ed Sarluca, Mrs. Rivera, Mr. Stefanelli, Mrs. Stanley, Mrs. Harzer, Mr. Decker, and Mrs. Hobbs. Their attendance underscored the significance of the event in the school community.

In addition to the auction, several local businesses and organizations contributed to the event’s success by donating gift cards for raffle baskets. MeeMoms, Sunshine Daydream, Stella Luna, the Class of 2024, and the Miley Family all generously contributed to the cause.

The money raised from the Silent Auction will go towards food and entertainment for the junior prom, which will take place on May 3, 2024, in the Brick Memorial Gymnasium. The Class of 2025 plans to continue the fundraising efforts by selling the remaining dresses after school on dates yet to be determined, with announcements to be made. Any dresses not sold will be donated to local libraries, ensuring that the community continues to benefit from this charitable event.

Advisors Rebecca Decker and Bridget Petrulla expressed their pride in the junior girls who put together this amazing event and look forward to making it an annual event. “We are incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication shown by the Class of 2025,” said Mrs. Decker. “Their efforts have not only raised funds for a memorable junior prom but also showcased their leadership and organizational skills,” added Mrs. Petrulla.

Brick Memorial High School is proud of the event and the students’ commitment to making a positive impact in their community.  Hopefully, this continues as a new tradition at BMHS and grows each and every year!
