We are proud to celebrate the outstanding achievement of Mrs. Fallon’s and Ms. Bariko’s STEM classes, who competed in their first-ever Ocean County College “Dotted Line” Cardboard Canoe Competition. Our Wave Warriors paddled their way to a remarkable 2nd place finish, becoming the first Brick Memorial team to successfully cross the pool!

The competition challenged students to build a functional canoe using only cardboard and duct tape. Over a 20-minute race, participants had to paddle their handmade vessels across the pool without the use of any tools during the event, not even scissors. Prior to the race, students carefully designed and pre-cut their boat pieces and paddles to meet the strict guidelines.

Out of 11 competing teams, only two managed to make it across the water, one of which was our very own Wave Warriors, alongside Brick Township High School.

Congratulations to Jake Janeira, Caia Cano, Zack Rodak, Mackenzie VanPell, and Allison Kennedy, who designed the canoe in just 20 minutes and successfully made it across!

Congratulations to all the students for their creativity, teamwork, and perseverance! This exciting achievement highlights the innovation and spirit of our STEM program.

It’s a great day to be a Mustang!
