Brick Memorial High School proudly hosted its Fall 2025 World Language Honor Society Induction Ceremony on November 13, recognizing students who have demonstrated exceptional achievement, commitment, and cultural appreciation in French, Italian, and Spanish. Surrounded by family, faculty, and administrators, inductees were welcomed into their respective societies through meaningful traditions, student leadership, and the lighting of ceremonial candles.

Principal Edward Sarluca praised the inductees, sharing, “Our students continue to show what it means to pursue excellence with purpose. Their dedication to language, culture, and curiosity about the world inspires our entire school community.”

French Honor Society – La Société Honoraire de Français

Under the guidance of Madame Schwester, the French Honor Society celebrated students who have excelled in advanced French studies and shown a passion for Francophone culture. Students were praised for challenging themselves academically, exploring French customs, and embracing opportunities to broaden their global perspectives.

Leyna Gilinsky, representing the society, reflected on the close-knit, family-like community the group has built and the lasting impact of studying a second language. Attendees also heard the traditional society oath and motto, passing on the symbolic torch of knowledge to the new members.

The program highlighted the society’s past cultural events, tutoring programs, celebrations of National French Week, and hopes to continue growing its traditions throughout the year.

Italian Honor Society – Società Onoraria Italica

The Italian Honor Society, led by Signora Giovannini and known as the Leonardo Da Vinci Chapter, honored its new inductees with an inspiring ceremony emphasizing perseverance, curiosity, and cultural pride.

Students were recognized for pushing beyond classroom expectations, embracing challenges, and cultivating a genuine appreciation for Italy’s language and heritage. The society’s traditions include lighting the “mother candle,” symbolizing inspiration, and welcoming each new member through a meaningful oath about the importance of unity, cultural connection, and global friendship.
