Brick Township Schools Chorus Programs Unite for Collaborative Workshop and Performance

The sounds of harmony filled the Brick Township High School auditorium recently as the chorus programs from Brick Memorial High School (directed by Mr. Kevin Bettys), Brick Township High School (directed by Mr. Capone), Veterans Memorial Middle School (directed by Ms. Ashe), and Lake Riviera Middle School (directed by Mrs. Perednia) came together for a day of collaborative learning and performance.

The event provided a unique opportunity for students from all four schools to connect through their shared passion for music. Participants engaged in learning a new song together, fostering teamwork and musical growth across grade levels. This harmonious happening highlighted the power of collective musical endeavor.

A key element of the day was the reciprocal mentorship between the high school and middle school directors. Mr. Capone and Mr. Bettys took on the role of clinicians, offering valuable feedback and guidance to the Veterans Memorial (Ms. Ashe) and Lake Riviera (Mrs. Perednia) Middle School chorus students following their performances. Simultaneously, Mrs. Perednia and Ms. Ashe provided their expertise and insights to the Brick Township High School chorus, creating a supportive learning environment for all involved. This exchange of knowledge served as a bridge between the different school levels.

The day culminated in a powerful combined performance of Amavolovolo arranged by Rudolf de Beer, the song learned earlier, showcasing the collective talent and dedication of the young vocalists from across the Brick Township Public School District.

This collaborative event underscores the strong sense of community and shared commitment to musical excellence within the Brick Township school system. By bringing together students and educators from different levels, the program fostered valuable learning experiences, strengthened inter-school connections, and provided a platform for students to inspire and learn from one another.
