Our new unit in preschool is Pet Vet! This unit of learning allows our students to use make believe play to explore the many roles and actions associated with pets! Our classrooms have transformed into areas you will visit being a pet owner, such as the vet, pet store, dog/cat treat bakery, obedience school & training, and the groomer! Our students created props for each of these areas and are able to use these props to enhance their make believe play. On any given day, you can find our students rolling out dough for dog treats, stocking the shelves of the pet store, giving a beloved pet a bath or hair cut, and providing the best medical care to your furry friends! You may even catch a glimpse of students working hard to train their pets at the obedience school. Through all of these activities, we are able to foster imaginative play, language development, cooperation, turn taking, and sharing! This unit also allows us to incorporate many early math concepts into daily play – students are seen counting, sorting, and measuring!
