Key Club Hosts Gingerbread Social with Toys For Tots Support at Brick Memorial

Brick Memorial High School was filled with joy yesterday as more than fifty children joined the annual Gingerbread Social in the Gold Cafeteria, a beloved tradition hosted by the Key Club under the new guidance of Mrs. Diana Corde Leone. As families arrived, they were greeted by New Jersey State Troopers who thanked them for their generous donations to Toys For Tots, adding an extra touch of community spirit to the celebration.

The young builders, many of them the children of our faculty and staff, came in with wide smiles and plenty of excitement as they prepared to create their gingerbread masterpieces.

The event carried an extra special moment when Ms. Tarnowski, who created the Gingerbread Social nearly twenty years ago and retired last year, returned to celebrate with familiar faces.

Of course, no Gingerbread Social would be complete without a visit from Santa himself. As usual, Mrs. Pannucci was in charge of making sure he arrived safely and right on schedule. Observers could not help but notice how closely she kept an eye on him, and some say she just might have a little crush on the guy.

Mrs. Rebecca Decker shared how important this gathering is to her family, saying, “My children love coming every year. No matter what our normal routine for the week is, everything gets cancelled for this event.”

Principal Edward Sarluca praised the spirit of the tradition, noting that celebrations like this remind everyone what makes the school community so strong. He added that seeing families come together for something so simple and joyful is a wonderful reminder of how much pride and heart fill the halls of Brick Memorial.

It was a memorable afternoon of laughter, frosting, candy, and community, continuing a tradition that remains one of the sweetest of the year.
