Community Helpers!

Our theme is changing again! Our new theme is called “Community Helpers,” Our centers will transform into places that make a community work like the post office, town hall, library, and school just to name a few. By this time in the year, the students will begin to visit other centers. For example, they can go from their home to the post office to mail a package or to get books from the library.

One activity in our small group Science block is called “Science Eyes”. The purpose of the activity is to increase the children’s ability to attend to small details while observing. It also focuses on building various descriptive vocabulary words such as color words, texture words, shapes, and positional vocabulary. Our “Science Eyes” in the next few months will focus on collections of materials for children to also practice observing similarities and differences. We even get to use the snow! Science Eyes will also expand to include science experiments that work on making predictions, collecting data, and analyzing data.
